Conversation Assistants Programme.

The aim is is to encourage children to speak in English in a natural way.

This programme is designed to support the English Department in tasks such as conversation groups with the children, in the atelier, in the playground and lunch and tea time duties.

This programme is organised by Meddeas, a renowned company in the field of education which has many years of esperience in organising educational programmes around Spain.

This year we have Katie and Grace in our school. They are living with families from our school and will stay until June with us.

The main objective of our conversation programme is to encourage the children to speak in English in a natural way. We create a welcoming and a stimulating environment where children can express themselves and practice English.

We are obtaining good results, children feel free to speak in English and they really enjoy it. Their attitude towards English is very positive.

Katie Pond

My name is Katie and I am 19 years old. I come from Cardiff, the Capital City of Wales, which means I am completely used to cold and rainy weather, so being here it’s very different. This is my first time living abroad and coming to live here Spain is proving to be one of the best choices I have made. Everyone here at La Farga, the teachers and children, have been so welcoming and they have made the transition so easy. I am currently on a gap year and I am planning on going back to university either next year or the year after, so coming here is helping me to decide what career path I am going to take.

Before coming here I was a carer for children with disabilities, helping them to access the community and become more independent. I love music and going to watch live gigs, so being here so close to a big city means that I get to experience music in a different way, discovering Spanish music that is so important to the culture.

Being here in Spain and living with a host family has allowed me to completely immerse myself in Spanish and Catalonian culture and I can’t wait to see what else this beautiful country has to offer over the next year.

Grace Cherry

My name is Grace Cherry, I am 21 years old and I am from Toronto, Canada. I am an only child and enjoy travelling, photography and writing. I studied advertising and marketing and graduated in June of 2019. Although I studied marketing, I would like to teach children like what I see at La Farga. I Love students here as well as the faculty. I feel very welcomed and I am very excited to spend the rest of the school year with these lovely people.

Originally I didn`t look into teaching in Spain but in Asia. When I saw an acquaintance working in Spain it looked too beautiful and I wanted to go there too. I am really glad I chose to come to Spain as I feel very comfortable here and I want to learn Spanish. I am having a great time learning about the culture and getting to know my new surroundings.

Before I came to Sant Cugat I spent 7 weeks travelling across Europe. I went to Rome, Barcelona, Sevilla, Amsterdam, Budapest, Vienna, Lisboa and so many amazing cities. I met so many wonderful friends and I am planning to travel more in the future .
